In the "Lady or the Tiger", the princess values the love for her prince and jealousy because he might get married to the lady instead of the princess, if he picked the door that has the lady.
I agree with you that the princess valued jealousy because she did not want her lover to be married to the lady. I don't see why she would rather have her lover killed than be alive and happy.
